About us

Behind every house there's a name. Behind this one, there are two.
Lara is her name. Palacios is his. We put our surnames together, and Villa Lara Palacios was born.
Ferney came to Mérida to play the horn in the Yucatán Symphony Orchestra, and one day we found this house: the garden, the century-old trees, the shaded pool. We fell in love with it, and dreamed of opening up these spaces and sharing them with friends, artists and travellers of all ages.
We love cultures, languages and the stories every guest brings with them. Here, languages mingle in the garden, recipes are swapped in the kitchen and travel tales are told beneath the trees. Every guest leaves something behind, and that's the magic of a house like this: you never stop discovering the world, even when you're at home.
